Blood Bowl Competition Rules >>
We currently run an open format league where coaches may field as many teams as they can manage (within reason).
Coaches can play as many games as they like during pool play, but a team needs to have played a minimum of 10 games to qualify for the finals round at the end of the season.
Standings will be calculated on points average and will determine the seeding for the quarter-finals.
Teams may not play against each other more than twice in a row and not more than 4 times over the course of a season.
Coaches may re-start any of their team(s), or start a new team, at any point during the season.
If a team is re-started the name and race must be the same as previously and all results the team has had so far stand. The team may have a completely different starting line-up of players, though.
Coaches may start a new team at any time without restriction.
Of course, coaches are welcome to play under any rules, with any experimental teams they wish. These matches, however, do not count for ABBF standings, SPPs, Injuries or any other effects on team.
To add a little more random mayhem to our leagues we will add some small house rules in each season, based on the season's theme.
Details for these house rules will be announced at the start of each season. If you want to find out more, simply email us.
The ABBF endeavours to run two season per calendar year, each featuring a competitve tournament. The ABBF Streetbowl League runs all year long. In the mid-winter break, NZ's National Blood Bowl Championship, the Greenstone Cup, is held around August/September.
Every now and then we will also run a smaller tournament for experimental teams, rules, etc., like the infamous "Stunty League Of Gits" (SLOG), Beach Blood Bowl, etc.
There will be regular resets at the end of each season.
The ABBF are a nice bunch of people and very passionate about the game of Blood Bowl. Some games can get quite competitive (especially games played in tournaments and/or between old rivals) but we never forget our good manners and the fact that it's just a game...
Coaches will be updating their own rosters, so we expect everyone to play and record their matches fair and honest.
